Thank you very much for your interest in adopting a dog from Hope for Dogs Rescue (HFDR). We are a charitable, non-profit 501(c) (3) organization founded in 2019.

Our goal is to save as many adoptable dogs and to work with the community and other dog rescue groups in Hawaii to decrease the number of dogs that are euthanized or residing in an overpopulated facility. We will also consider intaking owner surrender dogs who have no other alternative.

Our adoption process is extensive and may seem unnecessary, but as stated above, our dogs have had rough lives in the past and we are taking these steps to ensure a positive and successful adoption.

Step 1: Fill out our application form

Step 2: Interview with the adoption coordinator

Step 3: Mandatory meet and greet and a home inspection

Step 4: Once all requirements are completed and your application is approved, our dog is ready to go to their new home

I, , agree to the following:

  1. That I will return this dog, , that I adopted from Hope for Dogs Rescue if I am no longer able to care for him/her and will never rehome, surrender him/her to another rescue organization, or to HHS without prior permission of Hope for Dogs Rescue (Return of adoption fee is at the discretion of the adoption coordinator.) I understand that should I surrender back to Hope for Dogs Rescue, I will continue to hold and care for him/her until a new home is found.
  2. Return of adoption fee is at the discretion of the adoption coordinator.
  3. I will inform HFDR of any change of address or phone number.
  4. That the HFDR does not guarantee the breed, age, health or behavior of any dog and will be held harmless in the event of injury or damage to any person or household.
  5. That the HFDR may schedule an inspection upon 48-hour notification to the adopter at any time and may upon said inspection, if deemed that the dog’s health and welfare is compromised, seize the dog to be returned to HFDR.
